Carva ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Shiftware. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Carva mobile application.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you choose social login, your name from Apple or Google. When you use the app, we collect photos you take for car identification (processed and not stored on our servers beyond identification), your approximate location for pinning spots on the map, and gameplay data such as XP, level, badges, and spots.
We use your information to provide the car identification service, display your spots on the map, maintain leaderboards and your profile, process subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play, and improve the app experience.
Carva uses the following third-party services: Supabase for authentication and data storage, Anthropic (Claude) for AI car identification, Mapbox for map display, RevenueCat for subscription management, and Apple/Google for authentication. Each of these services has their own privacy policy.
We request location permission to tag your spots on the map. Location data is stored with your spot data in our database. You can deny location permission, but spots will not appear on the map. We use Mapbox to display maps.
Photos are sent to our server for AI identification and stored in cloud storage associated with your spots. You can delete individual spots and their associated photos at any time.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use encryption in transit and at rest. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account screen in the app. Upon deletion, all your personal data, spots, and photos are permanently removed from our servers.
Carva is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and on this page.
